The past few weeks have been extremely important for everyone operating in the security industry.
October 24th saw the eleventh Door Supervision Networking meeting take place at Grace Bar, London whilst last week the SIA Annual Stakeholder Conference took place in London at the impressive Savoy Place.
Both conferences had strong agendas.
The former meeting was hosted by Tony Clarke of UK security Facilities Ltd and included presentations from SIA board members Jackie Munn and Mark Burtonwood, with the addition of the company’s chief executive – Bill Butler and Jo Poole of Met Police. The latter meeting included presentations from the Regulator’s chairman Baroness Ruth Henig as well as informative presentations from the SIA’s director of service delivery Steve McCormick, John Montague – the Regulator’s assistant director of compliance and investigation – and chairman of The Security Institute.
Themes examined were: the future operating model and regulatory regime for door supervision and the security industry in general. Plans for service improvements and the standardisation of skills and competences across regulatory regimes were also discussed.
The next SIA event will be the The Small Business Network meeting that will be held on the 28th of November. During the meeting, delegates will have the opportunity to hear the latest developments affecting the industry and to share their opinions.
