Physical intervention training is to become mandatory for all door supervisors from February 2013 upon renewal of their SIA license.
From 4 February 2013, all door supervisors with older qualifications will need to pass the new ‘Up-Skilling Door Supervisors’ award before they are able to renew their SIA license. The award includes Physical Intervention Skills Training, Awareness of Terrorist Threats, and Considerations in dealing with 14 to 18 year-olds and First Aid awareness.
It is important that all door supervisors consider taking the new award as soon as possible before the expiration of their license. Supervisors with a license that is not due to be renewed for some time should consider undertaking the training. This will ensure the appropriate knowledge and techniques needed to undertake new roles.
